Melissa Hernandez-Katz

Senior Lecturer
I began working in higher education in the Fall of 1999 when I taught Communications in the Houston area. After moving to the Dallas area I joined UTD in 2000 and worked in the admissions office where I had the opportunity to visit with prospective students and their families. I left in 2001 and went to work for the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) at UNT where I worked with high school students who finished their last two years of high school at UNT. I came back to UTD in 2007 to assist in leading the ECS advising office. Again continuing to work with students and assist in guiding them through their college years. During this time I also taught Rhet 1101, a required class for all incoming freshman. I also had the opportunity to teach a section of ECS 3390, Professional and Technical Communications which is a required class for all ECS majors here at UTD. All of these experiences have allowed me to understand a student 's perspective from before they enter college to graduation.
