Internal Audit—Student Internship Program
How it works
Through the Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP), student interns get to work with UT Dallas internal auditors on real audits.
Every fall and spring semester, UT Dallas graduate students taking the Internal Audit course (ACCT 6380) complete a project in which they gain internal audit work experience by partnering with UT Dallas internal auditors and other local internal audit departments.
Why is a UT Dallas audit internship special?
- The program is recognized by the Institute of Internal Auditors as one of only two university programs in the U.S. and five worldwide as a Center for Internal Auditing Excellence.
- Program graduates, considered among the best in the field, are sought by well-known organizations. Our student interns have been hired in the internal audit departments of many companies, including Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, KPMG, Lennox, Southwest Airlines, AAFES, UT Southwestern, AT&T, Bank of America, Accuvant, Weaver, and JC Penney.
- UT Dallas has also hired about 10 program graduates, two of whom are currently full-time auditors!
History
The Office of Audit and Compliance has been working with student interns ever since the UT Dallas Jindal School of Management's Internal Auditing Education Partnership (IAEP) began in 2003. In that time, UT Dallas internal auditors have worked with over 150 students on over 50 audits.
