Requirements
The MS in Biotechnology requires 36 semester hours, including
a four course (12 semester hour) core
Core Courses for the MS in Biotechnology
- BIOL 5373 Proteomics
- BIOL 5381 Genomics
- BIOL 5384 Biotechnology Laboratory
And one of the following
- BIOL 5376 Applied Bioinformatics
- CS 6372 Biological Database Systems and Data Mining
- MATH 6341 Bioinformatics
Preparing for the core courses
Students may use a portion of the 36 semester hours to prepare
for the core. Contact us to get advice on how to make the transition
to the core. Well-prepared students may petition to substitute
additional elective courses for core courses.

Beyond the core...
Students may select from a wide range of approved elective courses
in areas such as:
- molecular and cell biology
- chemistry, mathematics
- science education
- engineering and computer science
- social sciences
- finance and management.
Students may also take research courses and complete an M.S. thesis.
More than 36 semester hours may be required to complete this plan.

M.S. in Biotechnology, but also the general university requirements.
