Breast Cancer Awareness Day

On Oct. 30, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Student Government will be sponsoring its second annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Pink bras will be available in the Comet Cafe 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, to wear over your clothes on the day of the rally.

At 11 a.m. on Thursday, here is what YOU need to do:
1. Wear your pink bra OVER your clothes.
2. Join us for some music, cupcakes, and drinks in the Student Union Mall.
3. When it hits noon, meet at the Student Union Steps (outside).
4. Listen as Phyllis Blanck from Student Development speaks about her experience with breast cancer.
5. Help spread awareness about breast cancer!


An estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2008. An estimated 40,480 women will die from breast cancer. It is estimated that 1,990 men will be diagnosed and 450 men will die of breast cancer during 2008. In addition to invasive breast cancer, 67,770 new cases of in situ breast cancer are expected to occur among women in 2008. Of these, approximately 85 percent will be ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).
