Weekly seminar for the Mathematical Sciences Department.
This week's seminar is given by Dr. Qingwen Hu of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Applying the global Hopf bifurcation theory developed recently for state-dependent differential equations, we investigate the global continuation of slowly oscillating periodic solutions with respectto a parameter. To achieve this goal, we obtain (a) upper and lowerbounds for the period of slowly oscillating periodic solutions in a connected bifurcation branch in the Fuller space; (b) uniform boundedness of periodic solutions. Also, I will present a case study to illustrate the general results and some open problems which arose in this research.
Coffee will be served in ECSN 3.214 at 1:30 PM
