The Science and Engineering Education Center of the University of Texas at Dallas will host a regional qualifying round for the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League (FLL) competition. In this robotics competition, teams will present and maneuver their LEGO Mindstorms constructed robots in an attempt to qualify for the North Texas Regional Tournament.
FIRST is an organization founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. FLL introduces children ages 9‐14 to real‐world engineering challenges by building LEGO‐based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. Teams are scored on how well their robots complete the tasks. They are also judged on teamwork, robot design, and a research project based on the year’s theme.
