History provides occasional instances of combatants who once the tumult and killing subsides reconcile their differences and develop respect and even friendship. The 2011 Jalonick Memorial Lecture will bring together three airmen who will forever be connected by events in the Vietnam War. Initially, they tried to kill each other. Today, they consider each other friends. Dan Cherry and John Stiles of the U.S. Air Force will appear with North Vietnamese combat pilot Nguyen Hong My to discuss how they battled 39 years ago and how they came together in the past few years. The annual endowed Jalonick Lecture is presented by McDermott Library's Special Collections Department to inform and enlighten the public about the history of flight and the History of Aviation Collection at UT Dallas. Free and open to the public. A reception follows the presentation in the McDermott Suite, 4th Floor, McDermott Library.
