Activities include art exhibitions “Photography Exhibition: Mountains of China” and  a lecture “Confucius in China and Abroad” by Professor Kam Louie from the University of Hong Kong; and a showing of the award-winning film directed by Mr. Peng Jingquan, Remembrance of the Gathering Place for Beauties.

Photography Exhibition: Mountains of China  
Photographers from the North Texas Asian Photographer’s Association (NTAPA) exhibit their majestic and beautiful photography of the mountains of China.

November 10, 7:30 p.m., Jonsson Performance Hall

Lecture: Confucius: In China and Abroad

Dr. Kam Louie, dean of arts at the University of Hong Kong and president of the newly formed Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities, will talk about “Confucius: In China and Abroad.”

Chinese Movie: 1911 - Fall of the Last Empire 

This movie, starring Jackie Chan, shows an artistic chronicle of the Xinhai Revolution that began in the year 1911 and eventually brought an end to China's last feudal dynasty.  Mr. Eddie Pan will give a short presentation about the movie and the history before the movie.

Confucius Salon: The Aesthetics of Confucian Analects and Chinese Everyday Life
Lecturer: Jun Chen, Associate Professor of Yangzhou University Professor Chen from Yangzhou University, China will present the aesthetic ideals of The Analects and its impact on Chinese daily behaviors.

November 14, 7 p.m., Chinese Experience Center, 4th floor of Jonsson Building

Chinese Culture Experience: Chinese Calligraphy & Painting
A mini-workshop on Chinese calligraphy and painting. Four UT Dallas students and calligraphers will demonstrate different styles and how to use ink and brushes to create great works.
