Remote Sensing: Physics In Service of Society

The Physics Department is pleased to present a two-hour mini-symposium giving an overview of the Applied Physics research being done in the department in the area of remote sensing and autonomous aerial robotic vehicles. Four graduate students will present their research. The topics range from sampling the thermodynamics of the atmosphere in the vicinity of tornados to improve tornado forecasts, to providing global estimates of atmospheric particulates for health studies, to computational fluid dynamics and gas leak detection, to classifying the eco systems in the Gulf of Mexico.
