Through Roses, by Mark Neikrug, is a musical drama about a violinist who survived the Holocaust and the memories that haunt him. Guillermo Figueroa, long time music director of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and a founder of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, will conduct an ensemble of eight soloists including one of the greatest violinists on the concert stage today, Vadim Gluzman with his wife, pianist Angela Yoffe, and Dallas Symphony Orchestra musicians – principal violist Ellen Rose, principal flutist Jean Larson Garver, principal oboist Erin Hannigan, associate principal clarinetist Paul Garner, principal percussionist Douglas Howard and cellist Jeffrey Hood.
Acclaimed actor Fred Curchack will perform the role of the narrator.
The concert will also feature DSO principal horn emeritus Gregory Hustis and composer/ pianist Simon Sargon with his work The Weeping Shofar and The Clavier Trio with violinist Arkady Fomin, cellist Jesus Castro-Balbi and pianist David Korevaar performing Aaron Copland’s Vitebsk.
This concert is free to UT Dallas students, faculty and staff if they present their Comet Card at the venue box office the night of the event.
