
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) was established in response to Sputnik by President Eisenhower to maintain the technological superiority of the U.S. military. To fulfill its mission, the Agency applies multi-disciplinary approaches to advance knowledge through basic research and create innovative technologies through applied research.
