11 a.m. Location: Green Hall Atrium
The Capitol Flag Program began more than 70 years ago when a congressman requested a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol. Since then the program has expanded to include smaller flags flown on special flag poles at the request of members of Congress.
Recently, Honorable Sam Johnson, a former POW and a congressional representative from Texas, asked for a U.S. flag to be flown in honor of Dr. David Daniel, president of UT Dallas. State Rep. Jerry Madden also requested that a flag of the State of Texas be flown over the Texas State Capitol on September 11, 2012 for UT Dallas. Both flags will be unveiled on Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. in Green Hall’s 3rd Floor Atrium. All are invited to attend this event, which will feature Rep. Johnson and State Rep. Madden as special guests.
