The GLEMBA program will be hosting Andy Shenkler, Executive Vice President Operations and Business Strategy, Sony DADC New Media Solutions at our next speaker series on Thursday September 5th, 2013 at 5:30 pm.
Andy will discussing how the entertainment industry has faced numerous challenges over the last 15 years since the advent of pervasive internet usage in the home. The music industry was the first to experience the wave of this new revolution when combating against Napster. Now the film & tv industry are rushing to adapt with the advent of such accelerated deployed platforms such as Youtube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and the upcoming Intel Media. When looking across the media landscape some of the questions to explore are:* What changes is technology having on the entire eco-system from content creators to distributors? * How are content creators working to create more compelling offerings in a diverse world of multi- platform consumption? * What impact are companies like Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft and Intel having on users' consumption of content? * What are the issues facing traditional content distributors like Comcast, Verizon and Time Warner? * How are content companies working to compete in this new world? What types of employees are being hired? How are companies being structured?
