Student Volunteerism - Bone Marrow Donor Drive
Thursday, Sep 22, 2016
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Location: Galaxy Rooms (SU 2.602)

Get swabbed and save a life!

The OSV is hosting a September bone marrow donor drive with Delete Blood Cancer in honor of National Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Common blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma sometimes cannot be treated with chemotherapy alone. Many times a bone marrow or stem cell transplant is the patient’s only hope for treatment and survival.

The good news is that you can help! Almost 70% of transplants come from an unrelated donor which is why organizations like Delete Blood Cancer try to rally new people to register as donors. Join the OSV, Student Leadership Programs, Tau Sigma National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa at the Bone Marrow Donor Drive and register for the donor registry!

How to Save a Life in Under 15 Minutes

1) Come to the Bone Marrow Donor Drive on Thursday, September 22 between 10:00am and 2:00pm in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms.

2) Fill out a short form and swab your cheek with a cotton swab.

3) Done! You are on the registry and could potentially save a life!

The registration process takes about 15 minutes and the first 75 students to register get a free UT Dallas Bone Marrow Donor t-shirt*! Come out to the OSV’s Swab Party and save a life! #utdswab4life
