Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a service immersion program during spring semester. Under the guidance of a student Site Leader and a university staff or faculty member, team members participate in group activities beginning in January and devote their spring break week to perform service, learn about critical social issues, engage in cultural activities, and develop leadership skills. Participation culminates in a reflection reception in April where teams reunite and share ASB experiences, as well as share ways for continued civic engagement and community outreach.
Students register for a service team and then travel on their spring break (March 12-17) to engage with communities across the United States. Each trip focuses on a specific social impact area. Trip locations, tasks, and registration fees vary.
