The interaction of the Earth with the Sun produces resonant electromagnetic waves in the space environment not unlike the acoustic waves produced when playing a guitar. The equivalence of these systems can be used to predict observed resonances in magnetic oscillations and also to produce the electromagnetic equivalent of a guitar. The Light Guitar is a prototype of a new class of musical instruments that make music with the resonance of electromagnetic waves. These new instruments work like traditional acoustic instruments, but the music produced is in the form of non-visible light waves and not sound. A lecture on these new instruments and the relationship to space science will be followed by a Light Guitar performance.
