Digital Art and Humanitarianism
Nov. 27, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Skyline Conference Room - ATC 3.225

About the speaker: Michelle Benjamin studied Communication Science at the University of South Africa.  A humanitarian, Benjamin deeply cares about others and the planet, and is a major advocate for the rhino cause. She has exhibited in South Africa, London, Italy, France, and New York.  Benjamin is the creator of the Blue Rhino, the only art icon for the rhino cause. One of the largest collaborative creative projects ever staged, the Blue Rhino was exhibited along with creatives around the world in an animated collage on the largest video billboard in Times Square. Her intention was to raise global awareness, fight poaching, stop extinction, and save the rhino.  In November 2013, an edition of this artwork was auctioned in London at the Prince Albert Suite, the London Zoo, by Save the Rhino International. Benjamin volunteers as a board member on the governing body of the Bartolomeu Dias Museum in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. Her goal in life is to impact the world with kindness, compassion, and love through her art. Benjamin’s life of giving through her art has developed into the Michelle Benjamin Foundation, whose purpose is to reach out to the world in need. Born in the city of Pretoria, she now resides in the beautiful Garden Route, Western Cape, South Africa, where she is currently working on her “Life Near the Mountains” digital art project. She is telling the story of her life creating a wonderful synergy through art, social media and the incredible connectivity of being a digital artist.
