Dr. Kern Wildenthal to Receive the Ruth and Ken Altshuler Callier Care Award

We are privileged to honor Dr. Kern Wildenthal with the 2017 Ruth and Ken Altshuler Callier Care Award. This award is presented annually to an individual or group of individuals who has contributed significantly to the betterment of the community and to advancing the care of patients with communication disorders.

Dr. Wildenthal's exceptional leadership in healthcare administration, clinical medicine, education, biomedical research and philanthropy is an inspiration to administrators, practitioners, researchers, patients and humanitarians across North Texas and beyond.

Dr. Sharon Kujawa to Receive the 2017 Callier Prize

We are pleased to honor Dr. Sharon G. Kujawa with the 2017 Callier Prize in Communication Disorders. Dr. Kujawa is the director of audiology research and a senior scientist in the Eaton-Peabody Laboratories at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. The Callier Prize is a biennial award that recognizes individuals whose leadership and research contributions have promoted scientific advances and significant developments in the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders.

Work in the Kujawa laboratory seeks to clarify mechanisms and manifestations of common forms of acquired sensorineural hearing loss in humans; particularly, those due to aging and exposure to noise and ototoxic drugs.

Dr. Kujawa will be the keynote speaker at the Callier Prize Conference on April 21.

Proceeds Will Benefit Patients in Need through the Callier Care Fund

Proceeds from the event will benefit patients in need through the Callier Care Fund.

Ruth and Ken Altshuler created the fund to help children and adults who would otherwise be unable to afford treatment to overcome speech, language and hearing disorders.
