Dr. Mike Peng, O.P. Jindal Distinguished Chair

MIKE PENG

Dr. Mike Peng is widely recognized as one of the most prolific and influential scholars in global strategy and business. In March, the Journal of International Business Studies selected an article he co-authored as the most influential of the last decade. In 2014, he was named to the Thomson Reuters "World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" list, which was compiled based on papers indexed between 2002 and 2012 in 21 disciplines.

In 2011, Peng was named the O.P. Jindal Distinguished Chair. The position was created by Naveen Jindal MBA'92, for whom the School of Management is named.

When recognized during an annual investiture ceremony for endowed faculty, Peng expressed his appreciation of UT Dallas' emphasis on faculty excellence. "My field is global competition," he said. "So how do universities compete? It's really top faculty competing with other top faculty at other universities. In that regard, we are initiating at UT Dallas a fine tradition to honor top faculty."

REBECCA FILES

Dr. Rebecca Files, Sydney Smith Hicks Fellow and assistant professor in accounting in the Naveen Jindal School of Management, won the President's Outstanding Teaching Award in 2013. A year later, she was one of five UT Dallas faculty members named among the top educators in the University of Texas System.

Files is the first to hold the fellowship. Longtime Jindal School supporter, Dr. Sydney Smith Hicks endowed the position to championyoung faculty early in their careers. Hicks' motivation was personal: the Plano entrepreneur began her career as an assistant professor.

MICHAEL REBELLO

Dr. Michael Rebello studies corporate governance, capital structure and restructuring, as well as security analysts and venture capital financing.

Rebello became the Susan C. and H. Ronald Nash Distinguished Professor in 2014, a position created by distinguished alumnus and longtime University supporter H. Ronald Nash MS'79 and his wife, Susan C. Nash, in 2011. "When you look at this University, you have to really think about and thank the people who decide to make a commitment, usually pretty early in their life, to spend their life creating knowledge and transferring it," Ron Nash said. "I hope this professorship in some small way will be a 'thank you' to all those people who made that commitment and transferred knowledge to me, which made my life so much more robust and successful."
