Become a Mentor
Another way to participate with the UT Dallas Career Center and provide for the enrichment of our students is to volunteer as a Career Mentor.
Whether you give only an hour or so every now and then or many hours to many students over longer periods of time, your participation can make a significant difference in the career development of our students.
Following are various types of "mentor" activities in which you can be involved:
- Informational Interviewing - Arrangements are made for students on a quest to explore various career fields, industries or options within a particular organization to interview you.
- Job Shadowing - Arrangements are made for students, either as individuals or in a group, to spend a day shadowing you as you go about your work or simply to visit your facility for a tour and discussion about various career fields within your organization.
- Mentoring - You are matched with an individual student who is interested in pursuing a career similar to yours. You work with the student over a period of months to provide information and resources about your career field. You and the student work out the details of time, format and duration.
