Resources for You and Your Students

Classroom Career Learning Experiences

Invest in your students’ futures by building up their career readiness. You already work hard to ensure your students are academically prepared for success. We can help you ensure your students are workplace ready by helping them strengthen their job search skills and soft skills.

Use the Classroom Career Learning Sessions form to see ways we can help guide your class into career readiness. Feel free to leave notes in the Comments section on the form to further personalize the session to your students’ needs. Please note that all requests must be submitted using the form at least 10 business days before the proposed date, and that all requests are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Advising for Students

Is your student unsure of their major or career? Struggling to find a job? Wanting to network better? A one-on-one strategy session with a consultant to learn about career exploration assessments or job search techniques can help. Direct your student to book an appointment on Handshake to meet with a Career Consultant either virtually or in-person.

Take-home Career Learning Assignments

Solidify your students’ career readiness by integrating one of our ready-made eLearning assignments into your syllabi. These take-home activities guide students through career exploration, networking, self-marketing, and more. Connect with your school’s specialist consultant to plan your own career-readiness assignment or fuel your students’ purpose with one of ours.

Internships

We coordinate a comprehensive internship program for students in all schools, except ECS & IS. We serve as a partner to the academic programs to enhance the student’s educational experience. We maintain a database of appropriate opportunities for our students. See the information we provide to students for a more detailed overview and please let us know if you would like to be contacted about how we can assist you in developing, administering and/or maintain an active internship program for your students.
PLEASE NOTE: Engineering and Computer Science students — The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science has the Jonsson Career Services (JCS) Office which coordinates all internships for these majors.

We connect students with employers through mixers, info sessions, site visits, and employment fairs to ensure that students have maximum opportunity for internships. If you are interested in connecting an industry connection with UTD students, contact us to help convert that connection into an internship for a student.

Are students asking you questions about how their internships are processed? We will gladly provide answers. Refer students to the Internships team to gain clarity on the internship reporting process.

On-Campus Student Employment

We coordinate the on-campus student employment process for all part-time student employment positions that are not benefit-eligible (both work-study and non-work-study). If your department is seeking a student worker, please post your position on Handshake or connect with the University Career Center for assistance.
