Become a Career Mentor
Mentoring students is another great way to enrich students' education. Once you are registered for a UTD CareerWorks account, you can set whether you want to be a mentor, how you would like to be contacted, and with which activities you would like to be involved.
The following are various types of Mentor Program activities, beyond an email or phone call, in which you can be involved:
You coordinate the method and time to meet with students for them to explore various career fields, industries or options within a particular organization.
You coordinate dates for students to spend time shadowing you as you go about your work or simply to visit your facility for a tour and discussion about various career fields within your organization.
Professional Connection Mentoring Program
The goal of the Professional Connection Mentoring Program is to give UT Dallas upperclassmen exposure to a network of contacts to serve as a resource as they enter the remainder of their college career. It is a commitment - as a mentor it is recommended that you connect with your mentee for a minimum of one hour per month between mid-October and the end of April. You can use a variety of mediums to connect with your mentee, such as via e-mail, Skype, phone and in person; however, initial contact should be made by phone prior to the Kick-Off Networking Breakfast. You and your mentee will create a structured action plan and the relationship will grow from there.

In addition, you may choose to participate in our formal Externship/Job Shadowing Program held every March.
