Internships Abroad
Students thinking about internships abroad are probably coming from one of five knowledge bases:
- You know where you want to go and what type of internship you want, but need help getting there.
- You know where you want to go but not what type of internship you want.
- You know what type of internship you want, but not where you want to go.
- Interning abroad sounds like fun, but you have no idea how to get things started.
- You want to do an internship abroad, but don't know how to pay for everything.
The UT Dallas Career Center can help students identify and evaluate resources and programs available to search for and obtain international internships. We can also help students to determine, along with their academic department, if the internship abroad would be able to count for academic credit here at UT Dallas. Assistance regarding all other aspects of the international experience is available through the Office of International Education (OIE).
All UT Dallas students who plan to complete an internship abroad need to satisfy the "Institutional Protocol" published by the OIE. Please see the OIE website for more details on what is required. Also, students must adhere to strict deadlines for international experiences. Deadlines for the next 2 academic years are as follows:
- Spring 2009 - October 27, 2008
- Summer 2009 - March 30, 2009
- Fall 2009 - May 27, 2009
- Spring 2010 - October 30, 2009
- Summer 2010 - March 29, 2010
International experiences are not only important for personal development, but are becoming more and more valuable to have on a resume in such a global, competitive environment. Any student considering these opportunities should get started early!
