As part of the Senior Year Experience, Career Coaching is a valuable tool.
Career coaching is a new service offered by the UT Dallas Career Center for students who are about to graduate and want assistance with their career transition.
This collaborative partnership between the career coach and the soon-to-be graduate will provide constructive support and motivating strategies. Together coach and student identify goals for the job search, set priorities, and analyze best efforts for time and energy.
During the process, the career coach will provide accountability - holding the student accountable for completing tasks and ensuring that objectives are completed.
By working with a career coach, students can maximize their time, effort, and energy in the transition from student to full-time employee. Soon-to-be graduates will develop the skills to think clearly and strategically to identify goals, create a step-by-step plan, and target opportunities. With a partnership between the student and career coach, the career search process becomes less overwhelming or intimidating.
An excellent source to read is the book “Living Your Best Life” by Laura Berman Fortgang (JPTarcher/Putnam, 2002)Interested students can make an appointment with the Career Coach by calling 972-883-2943.
