We host employers for individual on-campus interview days throughout the year. Interviews are conducted in the Career Center, the Career Management Center in SOM, and in some circumstances, the IPP offices in ECS. Interviews are available only to UT Dallas students and alumni who have established a CareerWorks account with the Career Center.
Participating employers conduct on-campus interviews for permanent or internship positions. Interviews for internships are available only to currently enrolled students who have met all of the requirements of the Internship Program.
NOTE: If you are on an F-1 Visa, and interested in Optional Practical Training (OPT), you should attend an OPT workshop conducted by the International Student Services Office.
- Register for an account online.
- Read and review job descriptions and requirements listed in the "Jobs With Interview Schedules" section of CareerWorks to identify employment opportunities that match your qualifications.
- Request interviews ONLY if you are seriously interested in the employer indicated on the schedule.
- Visit CareerWorks regularly to guard against missed opportunities.
- After you have received notification that you have been selected, access CareerWorks to select your interview time.
- Always write a thank-you letter to the employer after every interview.
Types of Schedules
You will have the opportunity to submit your resume electronically until the pre-select deadline expires. After the pre-select deadline expires, employers will review resumes. You will be notified prior to the interview date whether or not you have been invited to interview. You will then be given access to the interview schedule so that you may select an interview time.
If you meet the qualifications designated on an open schedule, you may sign up on the interview schedule on a first-come, first-served basis. The sign-up deadline is set 5-7 days prior to the campus visit to allow time for the employer to receive and review the resumes prior to the interview.
Employers host information sessions from time to time as a way to distribute information about their organizations and the opportunities they have to offer. We strongly encourage you to attend as many of these sessions as possible; however, please note that these are NOT interview opportunities. Please DO NOT submit your RSVP (your reservation to attend) unless you intend to be there.
Business casual or professional attire is recommended when attending these sessions.

Cancellation of Interviews
When you have accepted an invitation for an interview, please keep the appointment. If for any reason you are unable to keep the appointment, cancel within twenty-four (24) hours. In the event of a cancellation, proper notice must be given to avoid removal from the on-campus recruiting system. No shows are not acceptable!
Failure to appear for a scheduled interview requires that you schedule an appointment with an Associate Director or Director of the Career Center. You will also be required to write a letter of apology to the employer who was expecting you. More than one no show will result in the loss of on-campus interviewing privileges for the semester. Missed interviews reflect poorly on you and the university.
Falsification/Misrepresentation of Information
It is important that you represent yourself to potential employers honestly and accurately. Not doing so could cost you a job opportunity. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and contents of your registration data, resume and other employment application materials. Any misrepresentation or falsification of information is considered a violation of the UT Dallas Code of Conduct and will be referred to the Dean of Students. Such violation may also result in the the disabling of your CareerWorks account and the removal of on-campus interviewing privileges.
Professional Practices & Expectations
As career professionals, the UT Dallas Career Center adheres to the Principles for Professional Conduct of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as our guide for ethical practice. We also hold the employers, students and alumni who work with our office to a high standard of professional conduct.
The following recommended practices are intended to provide a framework for such conduct; please review them carefully.
- Acknowledge invitations for interviews or appointments promptly whether you accept or reject them. Accept invitations only if you intend to seriously consider an offer that may result.
- Notify the Career Center in advance if you must postpone or cancel appointments.
- Should you be invited for a site visit, discuss with the employer what costs the employer will cover and verify all arrangements in advance.
- Respond immediately to offers. Discuss offers with employers to verify terms and reach mutually acceptable response deadlines.
- Request extensions from employers if you need more time to consider their offers.
- Notify employers of your decision to accept or reject as soon as you have made your decision, and no later than the agreed upon deadline.
- Respond to every offer whether you accept or reject it.
Upon acceptance of an offer:
- Write your letter of acceptance to the employer.
- Notify the Career Center of your success immediately.
- Immediately notify other employers with whom you have offers pending.
- Let your word be your bond. Honor your acceptance as a contractual agreement with the employer.
- Never accept two offers and never renege or continue to interview after you have accepted an offer.
Preparing for the On-Campus Interview
- Secure a copy of your official transcripts so you can photocopy them for your campus interviews when an employer requests you to do so.
- Proof your resume and have it critiqued by a member of the Career Center staff.
- Keep your registration data and resume accurate and up to date.
- Research the employer, visit their website and read any literature provided.
- Be prepared for your interview.
- Attend the How to Interview seminar sponsored by the Career Center or schedule an individual mock interview with a career counselor.
