Birgitt Bodingbauer and Simone Grindel (Nightmare before Valentine)

Nightmare before Valentine was originally formed in 2007 by the Berlin based dancers Birgitt Bodingbauer and Andriana Seecker. Simone Grindel came into close collaboration with us in 2010, kicking off a new long term project.

As images pave the sidewalks and bodies are under construction, our research focuses on contemporary identity constructions in a fast paced, economised society. Our current work in progress follows up directly to the Berlin hype: V.I.P. Landscapes of the superhuman. Increasing the dosage of me. An integrated online pixel life performance. - In a society hyperventilating performances of the self, what is a system breakdown worth? Or, where do we go, when we go offline?

Manouvering in this context of interest, we will develop a collaborative work with the dancers at UTD, never forgetting our fundamental credo: "Shake it, baby. Tanz is' geil."
