CHEC Courses
UT Dallas classes at the CHEC are offered in the afternoon and evening to accommodate the schedules of both traditional and non-traditional students. Classes are taught by UT Dallas faculty with the same high standards, books and curriculum used in classes held on the main campus in Richardson. Students enrolled in classes at the CHEC may also register to take classes on the main campus.
How to Look Up CHEC Courses:
The section number of CHEC courses has an "E" in the middle, for example, CRIM 3301 5E1. The section location will state "Collin Higher Education Center" and the details of the course will include a notation that states, "Meets at Collin Higher Education Center in McKinney."
In CourseBook, courses offered at the CHEC can be found through the advanced search function. Go to "Advanced Search," select the appropriate term, and select "Collin Higher Education Center" as the class location. After selecting the above search criteria, go to "Search." CourseBook is a tool that allows students to view class details and access syllabi, textbook information, and the exact location of classrooms.
In the Class Search available through Orion, the "additional search criteria" link can be used to search for the Collin Higher Education Center location.
In Course Lookup, select the course abbreviation you wish to search and then select "CHEC" as the campus. This will pull up courses with the selected course abbreviation that meet at the CHEC. The course description will include the statement, “Meets at Collin Higher Education Center in McKinney.”
Students in need of flexible course schedules should also consider other UT Dallas distance learning courses, which include a variety of online classes. From Course Lookup, select "Distance Learning" to view the complete list of distance learning courses.
Please note that a distance education fee is assessed to courses offered at the CHEC. Consult your academic advisor before registering.
