Cheerleaders

UT Dallas Cheerleaders 2023-2024 Group Photo

The UT Dallas Cheerleaders are a co-ed team whose primary focus is to elevate school spirit on campus. The cheerleaders can be found leading the crowd in both the fall and spring semesters at women’s volleyball or at men’s and women’s basketball games. They can also be seen at many campus events with special performances during Welcome Week and Homecoming. In April, the cheerleaders compete at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, FL.

Tryouts 2024-2025

May 11 (tentative)

During the tryout, applicants will tumble, perform one sideline chant, showcase jumps (Pike, Hurdler, Toe Touch) and demonstrate a portion of the UTD fight song. All material will be taught at tryouts except jumps and tumbling. Stunting ability and cheerleading experience play a role in the selection of the team as well, but these factors alone will not alienate an applicant from making the team.

For more information, please reach out to Nathan Williams, head cheer coach.

All camps and practices are mandatory for each cheerleader. All equipment and attire are provided for the team.

Camp Information

  • UTD Boot Camp July 15-18 (Mandatory)
  • SMU Camp July 19-21 (Mandatory)

Practice times

  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings
    at Recreation Center West

Benefits

Because UT Dallas is an NCAA Division III school, we do not offer scholarships for cheerleading. The University does pay for all uniforms, cheer camp and travel expenses to games and to the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach.

Cheerleaders at UT Dallas also enjoy priority enrollment, which means they are among the first to enroll each semester no matter their academic classification.
