About the Speaker: Kenneth Balkus received his B.S. degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1982; his Ph.D. from the University of Florida working with Russell Drago in 1985; and he did a post-doc with Brad Wayland at the University of Pennsylvania from 1986-1988. He then joined the UTD faculty and progressed through the ranks to full professor. He is a materials chemist working with zeolites. The zeolite UTD-1 synthesized by the Balkus group is the largest pore zeolite known. He has also made materials capable of immobilizing enzymes.

Dinner costs $15 and consists of garlic roast chicken with salad, vegetables, roll, coffee and tea with key lime pie for dessert It is not necessary to attend the dinner to come to the lecture. Members are financially responsible for reservation made but not used!
How to Get There: From Central Expressway (US 75) take the Campbell Road exit and travel west to University Parkway. This is between Floyd Road and Waterview Parkway and is the main entrance into UTD. Turn north on University Parkway. Turn right on Drive M, which is just past the Visitor Information Booth. After driving a short distance, turn right into Lot M to park. The School of Management Building is diagonally to your left across Drive M.
