Media Relations

Our communications team works with members of the news media to help facilitate interviews and connect reporters with experts and stories. We are also responsible for internal and external dissemination of campus news and information. Part of our mission includes providing timely stories to the public that highlight UT Dallas’ educational and research missions. Media exposure helps cultivate public support for the institution including faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Style Guide

The preferred style for the institution on first reference for any external communication is The University of Texas at Dallas. On second reference, UT Dallas is acceptable.

ReadyCam™ Television Studio

When breaking news happens, UT Dallas offers media access to our expert faculty via the VideoLink ReadyCam™ system. The ReadyCam™ system provides HD videos, which can be taped or live for easy, quick access to our experts. Contact one of our communications managers if you need an expert source for your story or broadcast.

If you are a member of the news media, our communications managers are your resource for story ideas and to connect you with faculty experts and other contacts. Please call our main office at 972-883-2155 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time for assistance.

After hours and weekends, we have an on-call staff member who can be reached through our main number: 972-883-2155. The voice message will provide you with a number to call 24/7.

Q: Media Visits to Campus

A: Journalists are welcome on the UT Dallas campus. We are prepared to assist reporters, photographers and videographers on visits to campus. However, please call a communications manager prior to any planned visit to campus, and they can assist you with parking, maps and environmental settings that would be appropriate for your story. Please call 972-883-2155 for assistance.

Q: Embargoed News Stories

A: UT Dallas communications managers are accustomed to dealing with embargoed information, including pending research papers in national and international journals. Please contact a communications manager if you have questions about upcoming publications, or stories you see on News Center, and we can provide appropriate background materials or embargoed information to trusted science reporters.

Q: If I Have a Story Idea for UT Dallas?

A: If you are a member of the campus community or general public, and you feel there is a story with potential to highlight our research, faculty, students, alumni or staff, please contact our office at 972-883-2155, and we will connect you with a communications manager.
