Printing
Business cards should be ordered through UTD's Copy Center by using a UTD Business Card Order Form which may be accessed at the Forms Page. Normal delivery for business cards is 8-10 days from receipt of the order.

Letterhead and envelopes should be ordered through the Printing Division. To process a request, attach a corrected copy of existing letterhead to a UTD Printing Services Reproduction Request Form and forward it to the Print Shop. Reproduction Request Forms (CS Stk #369.2) may be ordered through Central Stores at: http://vulcan.utdallas.edu/cscatalog. Normal delivery for letterhead is 8-10 days from receipt of order.
All Business Reply mail, including any out-sourced printing, must be cleared through Keith Heckathorn (ext. 2266) in the Print Shop and Nick Damon (ext. 2319) in Mail Services. Note attached samples for Business Reply postcard and envelope requirements.
Brochures, newsletters, postcards, pamphlets, catalogs, mailers and an assortment of other printed material are also produced through the Printing Division. The Print Division will provide customized cost and time estimates on individual projects based on a range of specifications that may include: number of print colors, paper weight (text and cover), custom treatments, binding and finish. Once final copy has been approved, print production for most projects can generally be completed within ten business days. Extraordinary quantities and specialized treatments (e.g., dye cuts and embossing) will extend production times and increase costs.
Custom printing projects may be reviewed with Gary Haag (ext. 2264) to determine the most effective quality and cost solutions. To ensure the highest quality of production, it is recommended that you allow ample time for coordination of each of the project components: copy correction, layout, blue-line approval, etc. Since projects are prioritized on a first-come, first-serve basis, it is also suggested that you allow extra time for production requests generated at seasonably busy times such as graduation.
All projects processed through the Print Division and Purchasing Department will be reviewed and approved for color (PMS) and design accuracy of The University of Texas at Dallas’ logos and wordmarks.
Graphics Software
The volume of graphics and the number of publications produced by UTD recommends the standardization of software. When incompatible software is used (e.g., Microsoft Publisher), the file must be converted to a printable format by the Print Division. The conversion process is time-consuming, increases project costs and can unintentionally alter the design and appearance of the project. An investment in compatible graphic software will ensure greater accuracy, quality and consistency. It will also expand design capabilities and reduce overall costs for UTD publications. The following software has, therefore, been approved by the Print Division for graphics design and publication work for either MAC or PC:
- Adobe PhotoShop – used for altering photographs and for reading EPS files.
- Adobe Illustrator – used to create new graphics for print and Web.
- Quark – used to design newsletters, brochures and other publications.
- Adobe PageMaker – used to design newsletters, brochures and other publications. Can export documents directly into PDF.
Quark may be purchased through the UTD Print Shop at a lower price than is generally featured in stores or on the Web. All of the Adobe products can interact with each other and may be purchased at a special educational rate. Listed below is the preferred UTD software vendor for Adobe products:
