Students Tackling Abusive Relationships Together

The Family Place S.T.A.R.T. (Students Tackling Abusive Relationships Together) Program and the UT Dallas Student Counseling Center continue to work together to provide students with education and opportunities to help make social change in their campus and home communities.

S.T.A.R.T. is a 10 week program to learn about and discuss abuse, relationships, and many more topics. Participants can gain the skills to advocate for healthy relationships and talk with peers about unhealthy relationships. This program is sponsored by The Family Place and the UTD Student Counseling Center.

The Spring 2009 training has begun. If you would like to be a part of the next S.T.A.R.T Training, you can contact Ellicia Money of The Family Place at 972-243-1611 ext. 21 or contact UT Dallas Student Counseling Center at 972-883-2575.

This course was designed to train college students in identifying, assisting, and providing outreach to others in abusive relationships. The program was rolled out to several north Texas college campuses in spring 2007. Several UTD students have gone through the 10-week training program with The Family Place college program coordinator.
