FAQ
Why did DART make this change?
For the past several years, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has allowed UT Dallas to pay a flat fee entitling all UT Dallas students, faculty and staff to obtain an annual pass. Beginning in January 2013, DART will restrict this program to students only.
Do I need a DART Transit Pass to ride the Route 883 Comet Cruiser bus?
No, a DART Transit Pass is not required to ride the Route 883 Comet Cruiser. Anyone can ride the Comet Cruiser without charge.
Which services are included with the 2013 Transit Pass?
The Employee Corporate Rate entitles Transit Pass holders to Local DART Service, which includes:
- Red, Blue, Green and Orange Line Trains
- Local Buses
- FLEX service along local service routes
Note: Local fare is valid for all bus routes except express routes numbered in the 200s to downtown Dallas.

What types of annual DART Transit Passes are available?
Faculty and staff may purchase annual Local DART Transit Passes at UT Dallas. These passes may be upgraded to System and Regional Passes with an Employee Preferred Pass Form, which must then be taken to the DART Store at Akard Station. Please contact p.smith@utdallas.edu to obtain this required form before proceeding to the DART Store.
What other types of DART passes can I buy on campus?
The University is working with DART to make one-day passes available at the Comet Center. Monitor this site for updates.
Who can purchase an annual DART Transit Pass through UT Dallas Parking and Transportation Services?

Why should I buy my annual DART Transit Pass through UT Dallas instead of directly from DART?
The Employer Corporate DART Transit Pass rate is more than half off the rate an individual would pay if purchased from DART directly. For example, the Employer Corporate rate for an annual Local Service DART Transit Pass is $600; the individual rate is $800. For this year, UT Dallas will further subsidize the pass price, so that your cost, if you choose to obtain a pass, will be $231.
Can I pay for a DART Transit Pass through pre-tax payroll deductions?
The DART Transit Pass is not an approved payroll deduction.
Can I keep my DART Transit Pass if I leave the University?

What if I am a staff member who attends classes under the Tuition Benefits Program? Am I eligible for a student DART pass?
Faculty and Staff who attend classes under the Tuition Benefits program receive a fee waiver that exempts them from paying the student transportation fee. Consequently, faculty and staff that receive the tuition waiver are not eligible to receive a student DART pass.
