The Comet Debate Institute (CDI) is your opportunity to work with the faculty and debaters at The University of Texas at Dallas, one of the nation's fastest rising and most successful debate programs. This year's CDI offers both novice and advanced tracks allowing you to learn at a pace appropriate for any skill level. New to this year's CDI is a two-day workshop for teachers and coaches wishing to get a head start on next year's topic, arguments, and tips for practice and preparation. What to Expect from CDI - June 22-27
The Comet Debate Institute (CDI) focuses on building effective speaking and strategic skills for debaters at any level.

What to Expect from Coach's Workshop - June 25-26
Coaching workshops focuse on topic preparation, team organization and practice and coaching techniques.
- Topic lecture and discussion
- Practice techniques designed to help your teams keep their skills sharp
- Roundtable/idea swap shop to share expertise with peers
CDI Tuition Options
Comet Debate Institute offers several flexible and affordable tuition packages. If you are interested in group pricing, please indicate the number of students attending from your school in the Comments section of the registration form.
One Week Novice/Advanced Commuter Session
All sessions Include all evidence, CDI T-shirt, and CDI USB Memory Stick.
- Single Student - $450.00
- Group of 4-8 (from same school) - $360 per student
- Groups of 9 or more (from same school) - $335 per student
- Coach attending One Week Session - $335
2 Day Coaches Workshop
- $200 per attendee
Register for the CDI
Registration for the 2009 CDI is now open! You can complete your registration online in three steps.
First, follow this link to register online. Your application will be submitted to CDI staff, and you will receive a confirmation. There is a $50 non-refundable deposit fee for all students or teachers wishing to attend the camp due no later than June 15th. The deposit will be applied to the student's overall tuition.. Please mail your cash or check to the below address at the time of registration.
Second, please print and complete the medical release and other information. These forms must be completed - in full - and returned to the CDI staff no later than Monday, June 22. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding the medical release or indemnity forms. Once all forms are completed, please send them to the address below.
Finally, tuition for the CDI can be paid in the form of cash or check only. Checks should be made out to The University of Texas at Dallas. All payments should be sent to the address below.
