Dean Honored for Contributions to Local Arts
Dennis Kratz Named Recipient of Richardson's 'Heart For The Arts' Award
Dr. Dennis M. Kratz, dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas, is the 2008 recipient of the Heart For The Arts award. The honor is given annually to an outstanding community leader who has devoted time and financial resources to further the arts in the greater Richardson area....
“On behalf of the Richardson Arts Alliance, we are thrilled to name Dennis Kratz as the recipient of the 2008 Heart For The Arts award,” said Debbie Mulvenna, chair for the gala. “His tireless efforts on behalf of the arts community and his high standards have served to elevate the quality, the quantity and the visibility of the arts.”

Veteran Fundraiser Hired for A&H Development
Chief Development Officer Brings Decades of Success to UT Dallas
The University of Texas at Dallas has hired a veteran fundraiser to help raise the profile and build external support for its School of Arts & Humanities.
Mary Brouillette is the new chief development officer for A&H after serving as the vice president of development for the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society. Brouillette oversaw the annual fund, endowments and capital campaigns, where she exceeded all fund raising goals and managed the corporate, foundation and individual giving programs.
Altogether, she has 30 years of experience in development and has established many important local and national contacts and relationships, which she will bring to her new job at the University.

Faculty member MaryAnn Young goes to Japan for Ethnographic Fieldwork
From July 11 to August 3, 2008, MaryAnn Young will be conducting ethnographic fieldwork to document the influence of festivals on the culture of Asahikawa, Japan. The topic of festivals opens many doors to questions regarding the culture in Japan today.
