Bryce and Jonelle Jordan Award

The Bryce and Jonelle Jordan Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 to support undergraduate music students. It has since been extended, with Dr. Jordan’s approval, to provide financial support for students in any of the creative and performing arts.

Annually at the Spring Arts Festival, the School of Arts and Humanities awards Jordan Scholarships to undergraduate students in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the arts during the preceding academic year.

To be eligible students must be nominated by a member of the Art and Performance faculty, be planning to enroll for the following Fall Semester and be full-time students in good academic standing.

The criteria for scholarship awards are as follows:
1. Artistic Contribution: e.g, outstanding achievement in an arts course, outstanding performance in a UTD-sponsored event or exhibition, work “behind the scenes” in support of an event or performance.
2. Grade Point Average
3. Faculty letter(s) of recommendation.

Bryce Jordan was the founding President of the University of Texas at Dallas, serving with distinction from 1971-81. He later served as President of Penn State University. He received his doctorate in music from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was Professor of Music and chairman of the department.
