Immersion in American Historical Studies provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the complex history of the nation. Beginning with survey courses, the program provides a thorough overview of the founding of the United States, continues through events that led to the Civil War, and addresses present issues of historical concern.

Students are encouraged to pursue their interests, broaden their knowledge and enlarge their perspectives. To achieve this, courses are designed around historical themes, issues, and ideas. From studies of complex times in U.S. history such as the American Experience in Vietnam, to new avenues of historical inquiry like the History of Science in the United States, students will find a wide selection of challenging courses.
