Fast Track

The Fast Track Program permits undergraduate Arts & Humanities majors (including Art & Performance, Arts & Humanities, Historical Studies, and Literary Studies) to begin work on the master's degree before graduation.

Qualified seniors may take up to twelve credit hours of approved graduate courses in Arts & Humanities during their senior year (within 30 hours of graduation), which will apply to their undergraduate degree plans as either major and related or elective courses. To qualify for admission to the Fast Track program, students must have completed at least 30 hours of upper-division work at U.T.Dallas, including the core courses in their major, with a GPA of at least 3.5 overall and in their major.

Registration for graduate courses will be made in consultation with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies. Depending on the student's major, the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies may apply the graduate courses as "major and related" or as "electives" on the undergraduate degree plan.

Upon successful completion of all undergraduate requirements, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) will be waived for admittance to the M.A. program. The Associate Dean for Graduate Studies will waive the appropriate number of graduate credit hours.

Students interested in the Fast Track program should consult with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and complete an application form. The best time to apply is prior to the final thirty credit hours of work for the B.A. degree. For an appointment with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, please contact Mary Jo Rex.
