UTD offers courses in piano instruction at several levels for all students. For the student with no prior experience, MUSI 2325, Piano I offers an introduction to keyboard skills, including technique, literature and basic theory. There is no audition for this course. Students can then progress into MUSI 3388, Piano II, with the permission of the instructor. Students with prior training may audition at any time for this class. Piano I and Piano II may each be repeated for up to 9 hrs. credit.

More advanced students may take MUSI 4345, Advanced Music Performance, Independent Study and receive private instruction with a UTD faculty member. Advanced courses must be approved by the instructor.

Music students without previous instrumental training are also encouraged to take MUSI 2323, Fundamentals of Music and MUSI 1306, Understanding Music to broaden their skills and understanding of music. They may also participate in MUSI 2327, UTD Chorale.
