January 2009 Research and New Venture Showcase

Research and New Venture Showcases provide a forum for the presentation of cutting edge science and later stage projects developed within the UT system. Each showcase is organized around a particular technology theme. The forum is open to UT system faculty and researchers, and selected early stage investors, venture funding firms, service providers and businesses.

The January 2009 showcase focused on technologies for understanding human language and focused on building a bridge between ongoing research at UT Dallas in the area of language and speech understanding and the needs of industry. Presenters included faculty and graduate students from the UT Dallas Human Language Technology Research Institute. Industry panelists were Dr. Micahael Kashner of the VA Medical Center, Dr. Vishu Viswanathan of Texas Instruments, Skip Cave of Intervoice, Kip Heuertz of Opus Research, Srik Soogoor of Visvo, Scott Streit of IARPA and Jeff Buchmiller of EDS.
