MinkoElena Minko
B.S., Electrical Engineering

Next step
I am enrolled in the Fast-Track Program, which has allowed me to start working on my master’s degree concurrently with finishing my bachelor’s. In December 2007 I obtained an internship at a major telecom company, Alcatel-Lucent. I loved my job, so I have stayed with the company and will continue my employment as an intern.

Educational highlights
My favorite class at the Jonsson School was RF Circuit Design Principles. I felt this class truly gave me the best exposure to various practical applications currently used in the industry.

My most memorable instructors were Dr. Nathan Dodge, Dr. Matthew Goeckner, Dr. Rajasekaran, and Dr. Randall Lehman. These professors have an exceptional approach to the way they teach the material. They make themselves available to their students both inside and outside of the classroom, treating their students with a great deal of respect, which inspires and motivates the students to work hard in order to achieve their full potential.

The most important skills I acquired while in school were time management and the ability to balance multiple important tasks at once. I believe these skills will prove to be very valuable in the workplace.

Long-term plans
After completing my master’s degree with a concentration in the biomedical applications of electrical engineering I intend to pursue a career developing new electrical devices for medical use. I hope to use my education in electrical engineering to improve human quality of life and make advances in disease management.
