Career Center
Students are encouraged to contact the Career Center
early in their academic careers in order to utilize the services available in
the development of their long-range planning. The staff assists students with
career counseling through evaluation and testing in the areas of skills
analysis, interest identification, and values clarification. Computer-assisted
career information searches and a Career Resource Library are also available.
The Career Center provides pre-employment
preparation assistance through videotaped mock interviews and workshops on
résumé writing, interviewing skills, and conducting an effective job search.
Representatives of business, government, industry, education, and social
agencies recruit UTD students at Career Expos and on-campus interviews. The
office maintains daily updated on-line job listings for part-time, on-campus,
and full-time positions with public and private employers. The Career Center
also manages the Internship/Cooperative Education program.
All students register with the Career
Center by completing an
online registration profile through the UTD CareerWorks system. The student
uploads a resume into the system, which can, in turn, be referred to employers.
Employers also have access to candidate résumés via Résumé Books in the UTD
CareerWorks system. For more information, contact the Career Center
in McDermott Library 1.312. (Phone: 972-883-2943, Web:
www.utdallas.edu/student/career, Email: careercenter@utdallas.edu).
