Funding Opportunity for McNair Scholars
The University of Texas at Dallas

Application fees will be waived for all McNair Scholars applying to graduate degree programs at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas). An updated listing of all graduate degrees offered is available at
http://www.utdallas.edu/admissions/graduate/degrees/.

In addition, for the Academic Year 2010-2011 UT Dallas will provide fellowships for up to two McNair Scholars to pursue doctoral study in designated areas of graduate study. The participating degree programs are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geosciences, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science and Computer Science.

McNair Programs encourage bright undergraduates, through intellectual and practical program enhancement, to attend graduate school. They serve populations that have traditionally been underrepresented in the ranks of graduate students. The fellowships offered by UT Dallas are specifically for entering students who have successfully completed McNair Programs at their undergraduate institutions. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents and be enrolled full-time.

Two McNair Graduate Fellowship award levels are available as follows:

  1. Students with a 3.3 GPA are eligible to receive a one year non-renewable award of $1,000 per semester that will be paired with a half-time (20 hours per week) graduate assistantship from the department, which pays tuition.
  2. Students with a 3.75 GPA are eligible to receive an annual-McNair Graduate Fellowship award of $4,000 per year for two years that will be paired with a half-time (20 hours per week) graduate assistantship from the department, which pays tuition.

Continued eligibility to receive the McNair fellowship will be contingent upon continued academic good standing in the degree program. Questions and all application materials may be directed to Dean Austin Cunningham (972)883-2667; cunning@utdallas.edu.
