Teaching and Research Assistant Orientation Program: HR and Employment Issues
Spring 2013- ALL NEW TA's & RA's
January 10, 2013 - TA's and RA's in TI Auditorium room ECSS 2.102 from 9:00am-12:30pm
and January 11, 2013 - TA's from 9:00am-1:00pm in TI Auditorium ECSS 2.102 lunch will be provided)
1:30pm-3:30pm will be with your School
All new TA´s attend both days and new RA´s only attend the first day.
As TA’s and RA’s, you will assume new responsibilities as employees and as valuable additions to the instruction and research agendas of the institution. Your expanded roles require acquaintance with the rules of the academy regarding compliance issues and your relationship and interaction with students when acting as an assistant instructor and researcher.
Completion of this two day orientation program will satisfy
- State mandated employee training requirements.
- Provide information on getting paid and on available benefits.
- Provide useful guidance on teaching practices and support resources and policies.
Please note that TEACHING ASSISTANTS must complete all of the January 11 orientation program to be eligible for continued appointment as a teaching assistant. Attendance will be monitored throughout the January 11 program.
