Scholarships |
There are a limited number of scholarships available
only to General Studies Students.
For information, inquire at the General Studies Office, GR 2.242.
There are three
merit based and merit/need based scholarships available from the school of General
Studies.
- HENRY DUBOIS SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarship
contingent upon funds available.
- CAROLYN GALERSTEIN GENERAL STUDIES
SCHOLARSHIP: Contingent upon funds available.
- CAROLYN GALERSTEIN INTERNSHIP SCHOLARSHIP: Contingent upon funds available.
The eligibility requirements are:
- The applicant must be a student in American Studies, Gender Studies
or Interdisciplinary Studies. Applicants new to UTD must be accepted
into the Bachelor of Arts in American, Gender or Interdisciplinary Studies
programs.
- Applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of six semester
hours at UTD and have attained at least a 3.0 gradepoint average.
- Recipients must enroll for at least nine hours during the semester
in which they receive the scholarship. Six hours are sufficient during
a summer semester or if the recipient is a single head of household employed
full time.
- Recipients will be eligible, upon reapplication, for renewal of a scholarship,
as long as they continue to enroll for nine hours each regular semester
and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Renewal will be contingent,
however, on availability of funds.
If you wish to apply:
- Obtain the specific scholarship application form by checking on the name of the scholarship above.
- The application requests that you provide a brief personal history and
explain your educational goals, career goals, academic background, financial
need, and provide TWO letters of recommendation.
Recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Committee on the basis of academic
ability and financial circumstances and without regard to race, color, national
origin, age or sex.

August 20 for Fall
December 20 for Spring
May 20 for Summer
