Raul Hinojosa Jr., M.P.A.
Director, Community Engagement
Raul Hinojosa Jr. joined The University of Texas at Dallas Office of Diversity and Community Engagement as director of Community Engagement in July 2008. As the founding director of this newly created office, he aims to increase awareness of higher education opportunities at the University to the diverse businesses and residents of North Texas.
Hinojosa is an alumnus of the University of North Texas. He holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in journalism/public relations and a master's of public administration from UNT. He is currently completing a doctoral program in public affairs at UT Dallas.
Prior to his current appointment, Hinojosa helped open the University of North Texas Dallas campus as the recruitment, community, and school relations coordinator. He was responsible for coordinating the campus' recruitment and outreach programs to help yield enrollment at the campus and advance the mission of the institution. During his time at UNT Dallas, the campus experienced aggressive enrollment growth, especially in African-American and Hispanic student enrollments. He also has worked at the Dallas division of the American Heart Association and the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas, primarily in media and government relations.
Hinojosa is actively involved in professional and community groups. He has been involved with the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA), American Society for Public Administration, Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO), D/FW Network of Hispanic Communicators, and the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE). He is also currently on the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School Advisory Council and the Dallas Independent School District Superintendent’s Community Advisory Council. Mission
The mission of the Department of Community Engagement is to foster collaborative partnerships with area school districts, community colleges, community organizations, and area businesses to increase student diversity at UT Dallas, and to increase the visibility of the university among underrepresented minority populations in the region.Programs:
Community Engagement sponsors the following programs to increase the number of underrepresented students enrolling at UT Dallas, and to establish partnerships that promote higher education in North Texas.

President’s Volunteer Service Awards
The UT Dallas Service & Civic Participation Initiative encourages students, faculty, and staff to track service hours in the community.
