News and Events

The Young Wise Investigators (YWISEI) program was created in 2012-2013 with the intention to inspire and encourage high school students at Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School and Hillcrest High School in Dallas ISD to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement and the Texas Instruments Foundation, the program provides mentoring and support for 30 high school students, in ten teams of three, over a one-year period to complete an science, technology, engineering and math project. The program also seeks to reward top young women STEM achievers by awarding a scholarship to UT Dallas in spring 2014 to the top three teams.

The success of the program and the students' completion of their project depends on an advisory team of mentors comprised of UT Dallas students and professors, professionals from Texas Instruments and teachers. Each mentor will guide one team of three participants through the project development cycle.
