EMAC not only gave me a foundation in new media but also challenged me to push my limits. I loved my classes and looked forward to thinking outside the box. Every class and project was an opportunity to be creative. By far, that's been invaluable to my career.
About Lan:Lan Nguyen graduated from UT Dallas with a BA in Emerging Media and Communication in Spring 2012. In addition to her EMAC activities, Lan was active in campus life. She was the historian for the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) one year and volunteered for Homecoming events and other service projects. In her sophomore year she obtained an internship at WrightIMC where she quickly moved into a full-time position. She is now a Senior Web Developer there whilst also working part-time for the NYC-based company, Dramafever. She enjoyed the pacing and challenge of the creative and critical classes in EMAC and is considering a return to EMAC to pursue her MA. Her projects for EMAC classes included organizing a flashmob and social media campaign to raise breast cancer awareness and her senior capstone project, ProjectRedefine.us, a website and series of videos about racial and ethnic identity. Her career goals include becoming an established designer/developer in the community and an executive with Wright IMC before she is 30. She would also like teach in the EMAC program someday.
