Located in suburban Richardson, Texas, 16 miles from downtown Dallas by an easily accessed commuter train or major freeways, UT Dallas offers 48 undergraduate degrees and 78 graduate degrees.
1) Before You Apply
All Freshmen

and report the official scores to UT Dallas

All Freshman Student Application Requirements:
- Complete the on-line application
- Provide your current, official high school transcripts (starting with grade 9) by sending them to our mailing address
- Provide official SAT
or ACT
test scores (may be included on your official high school transcript)
- Improve your potential for admission by responding to Essay Topic C
on the ApplyTexas Application
- Provide a non-refundable $50 application fee (may be waived if you register and attend a Scholars' Day event). UT Dallas will honor SAT waivers submitted by High School counselors.
- (Optional) Complete a Financial Aid application - Fill out the FAFSA
Additional Freshman International Application Requirements (0 to 29 transferable semester hours):
- Answer Essay Topic C on the ApplyTexas Application and two
Letters of Recommendation
- Provide official, attested photocopies, or certified copies of all high school transcripts, mark sheets,
or examination certificates showing the completion of U.S. 12th grade graduation equivalent must be submitted (starting with grade 9).
In addition, an official copy of final examinations taken at the end of the secondary school program such
as G.C.E. "O" and "A" Level Examinations, school leaving certificates, and matriculation exams,
should be submitted
- If you have completed college or university work from an institution recognized by that country's Ministry
of Education, the following must accompany the application:
- Provide official, attested photocopies, or certified copies of all previous university transcripts
or mark sheets showing subjects completed, grades earned, and dates of courses taken - CONSOLIDATED
MARK SHEETS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE
- Provide copies of course syllabi or course descriptions (these must be submitted before anything other
than general transfer credit can be assigned),
- Provide official TOEFL scores (must achieve a minimum score of 550 (paper-based)
or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based)), or 6.5 on the IELTS.
- $50 non-refundable international credential fee (for applicants with transcripts or other international academic
credentials from international institutions).
*In order for your academic documents to be official they must be in a school sealed envelope with the school seal or signature on the back side of the envelope.
3) Get Admitted
All Freshman (0 to 29 transferrable semester hours):

Assured Admission Criteria: Students who take the Texas recommended high school curriculum and graduate in good standing and who possess one of the following scores or rankings are assured admission:

- Entering freshmen should have successfully completed a full, college-track high school curriculum, including language arts (4 units), mathematics (3.5 units), science (3 units of laboratory science, excluding physical science), social sciences (3 units), foreign language (2 units in a single foreign language), and fine arts (.5 unit in music, art, or drama). In addition, students must demonstrate strong general verbal/quantitative aptitudes as measured on national standardized tests (ACT or SAT).
All students who do not meet the assured admission criteria are reviewed by the UT Dallas Admissions Committee. The UT Dallas Admissions Committee considers the applicant’s achievements in work experiences, community service, extracurricular activities, and surmounting obstacles to pursue higher education. Letters of reference from high school teachers, counselors, supervisors and activity leaders are appropriate in such instances. Students seeking such consideration should respond to essay topic C on the ApplyTexas Application. Students may refer to the Reviewed
