What advice do you have for prospective students?
Do not be afraid to experience new things, allow yourself the chance to be better.
How long have you been working in higher education?
Song: Vivir mi Vida by Mark Anthony
I love super hero movies because I grew up on comics.
You received your bachelor’s in psychology, what made you go this route?
At first I wanted to go clinical but found that was not my path. I enjoy working with students and as an admissions counselor, it allows me to help students.
What is your favorite hobby or interest?
I love to camp and go hunting opening weekend with my husband. I also enjoy painting.
What areas do you help with?
I work with the Houston, Conroe, Huntsville, and the Blinn College areas
Regarding your undergraduate time, what event/class/time means the most to you?
I think my freshman year I recall the most since everything was so new and exciting, I enjoyed the concerts that SUABB would do: Little John and Blue October. Also, the salsa nights, where I met my lifelong friends who were from El Salvador, as well. Some of my psychology classes are where I met my best friends.
You are an alum of UT Dallas, what made you attend UTD?
UTD seemed like a good school to attend and is now even better since it has grown so much. I love that I am able to see it grow.
Favorite restaurant near campus?
India Chaat Cafe is the one I recall the most. My roommate’s boyfriend worked there, so I was able to experience the food and culture. Q’doba is one of my favorite spots to this day.
If you could redo your time in college, what is the one thing you would change?
I would actively seek out the advice of my academic advisor and become more involved on campus.
